Antonio Santos-Olmo and Luis Enrique Sánchez, members of the Security and Audit Group (GSyA) of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, have made a new research visit to Institute for Analytics and Data Science (IADS) of the University of Essex, with the aim of continuing to consolidate the research lines opened between both institutions and advancing in the works linked to the AURORA project.

AURORA focuses its research on the development of new approaches for the analysis and management of cybersecurity risks incorporating sustainability criteria, with special application in smart home environments. In this context, the visit has allowed joint work on different aspects related to the evolution of risk analysis models and the study of solutions that can help move towards more sustainable cybersecurity.

During the stay, meetings and working sessions were held mainly with Haris Mouratidis, JunKyu Lee, Khaoula Hidawi and Fatimah Faraji, researchers at IADS. It should be noted that Haris Mouratidis is also part of the research team of the AURORA project, thus reinforcing the connection between the activities carried out during the visit and the scientific objectives of the project.

Furthermore, complementary lines have been explored related to the use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applied to cybersecurity, especially in those areas where these technologies can contribute to improving the processes of risk analysis and management and the sustainability of security solutions.

This new visit continues the collaboration maintained over the past few years between GSyA and IADS and allows continuing to strengthen a joint research line around the management of risks, sustainability and the development of new solutions to address the current challenges of cybersecurity.
