GSyA holds a practical cybersecurity workshop to prepare for Hack&Win with more than 80 students

GSyA holds a practical cybersecurity workshop to prepare for Hack&Win with more than 80 students

The Security and Auditing Group (GSyA) of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) has organised and delivered, on 29 October, a practical cybersecurity workshop at the Higher School of Informatics (ESI) of Ciudad Real, aimed at preparing students for their participation in the competition Hack&Win, which will take place within the framework of the activities of Santa Tecla.

The workshop was delivered by José Luis Ruiz, Eugenio Romero and Joaquín Sierra, members of the GSyA group, who guided the participants in the practical resolution of different cybersecurity challenges, covering both aspects related to hardware and software. During the session, the students were able to familiarise themselves with various techniques and methodologies for vulnerability analysis and challenge resolution, similar to those they will encounter during the competition.

The activity has received an excellent reception, bringing together more than 80 students, which highlights the growing interest in cybersecurity and in training activities that allow the application of acquired knowledge in practical environments.

The workshop took place within the framework of the subjects Software System Security and Security in Computer Systems. From GSyA, we would like to especially thank the collaboration of its professors, Luis Enrique Sánchez and Sebastián Reyes, respectively, for facilitating the organisation and development of this initiative. Although linked to these subjects, the activity has been open to any student interested in expanding their knowledge of cybersecurity.

With this type of initiatives, GSyA reaffirms its commitment to practical training, the dissemination of cybersecurity and the development of talent among future computer professionals, encouraging student participation in activities that combine learning, experimentation and competition.
