Summary

The AURORA Project (Advanced and Unified Research on Cybersecurity and Sustainability Risk Analysis in Smart Homes) aims to develop an advanced framework for analyzing and managing cybersecurity risks in smart home environments, with a focus on sustainability and special consideration for sparsely populated areas, an important aspect for some autonomous communities, such as Castilla-La Mancha.
Specifically, the construction of this framework involves progress in i) the use of metadata and ontologies for the formalization and semantic interpretation of risk analyses, the definition and utilization of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), and the categorization of risk analyses for specific sectors through the creation of reusable and customizable structures, as well as the conceptualization of the sustainability of security, solutions, ii) Swarm Intelligence techniques to propagate and manage security incidents among nodes with common characteristics, enabling collective intelligence regarding security risks, iii) Blockchain support infrastructure, which, alongside the definition of Smart Contracts, provides properties such as integrity, immutability, traceability, and consensus for highly sensitive information related to information system risks, iv) Machine Learning techniques applied to cybersecurity datasets, allowing the discovery of valuable information for effective risk management. These techniques will also be applied to datasets on the sustainability of cybersecurity techniques and controls to identify the most sustainable combinations, and v) Quantum Computing, focusing on designing algorithms to address computationally complex problems related to risk analysis, thereby optimizing the process and improving its sustainability. The following figure provides a graphical description of the project.
